"Abraham (Bram) Stoker, author of 18 books and numerous short stories - most of them questionable in taste-, has remained in literary history for his novel Dracula, published in 1897. The count-vampire has long since ceased to be just a literary character.
Through countless incarnations and adaptations in literature, film, theater, ballet, advertising, comics, computer games or music, Dracula has assumed an independent existence, becoming one of the most famous characters in the history of culture. A protean and ubiquitous character par excellence, there is now a children's Dracula, another for adults, a classical version, a modern, another postmodern version, a serious version, and one for comedy.
One of the side effects of Dracula’s immeasurable success was the transformation of a very real province into a mythical land. Transylvania is now associated worldwide with vampires.
But Dracula really existed. However he was not a count, nor was he a vampire and he never reigned in Transylvania.
Written sources that give information about Vlad - especially Saxon pamphlets printed between 1485 and 1500, and chronicles detailing the Turkish military campaign of 1461-1462 in Wallachia, as well as Slavic manuscripts from the 1480s found in Russian archives – describe him as a tyrant psychopath, who took sadistic pleasure in torturing and killing his enemies.

| Day 1 - Bucharest – Curtea de Arges – Cozia – Sibiu |
Pick-up from your hotel, and drive to Curtea de Arges, a former capital of Valahia during the 14th century, where you will visit the ruins of the Old Princely Court built by Vlad’s ancestors and Manole’s Monastery, an architectural jewel from the 16th century. On the way to Sibiu, stop to visit Cozia Monastery, built in 14th century by Dracula's grandfather Prince Mircea The Old. The beautiful Olt Valley takes you to Sibiu, once the richest town in Transilvania. Accommodation in Sibiu.

| Day 2: Sibiu – Medias – Biertan – Sighisoara |
Your day starts with a city tour of Sibiu, which includes the Evangelic Cathedral - where Vlad's son, Mihnea, was buried after his assassination just outside the church. Continue to Medias, the town where Vlad was kept prisoner by the Hungarian king Mathias Corvinus. Leaving behind Medias you will drive to the Saxon village of Biertan, where you will visit the fortress church that is one of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. Then drive to Sighisoara for overnight.

| Day 3: Sighisoara – Brasov – Bran – Sinaia |
| In the morning take a walking city tour of Sighisoara, the best-preserved medieval town in Romania. You will visit the famous Clock Tower Museum, The Armour Room and The Torture Room, then the house where Count Dracula/Vlad the Impaler was born in 1431. You will finish your tour by visiting the Church on the Hill. Depart for Brasov where Vlad’s enemies – the rich Saxon merchants – lived. The Saxon settlers founded the fairy-tale town of Brasov in the 12th century and it still preserves its beautiful medieval atmosphere created by many Middle Age buildings. The highlight of the city tour is surely a visit to the Black Church, the largest gothic style church in South-Eastern Europe. Your next stop will be Bran where you’ ll visit the Bran Castle – made famous by Bram Stoker's novel as the residence of the vampire count. The castle was built by the merchants from Brasov, in the 14th century, to protect the border between Valahia and Transylvania. Overnight in Sinaia. |
| Day 4: Sinaia – Slanic – Bucuresti |
| After breakfast, continue to Sinaia, a beautiful mountain resort, also called “The Pearl of Carpathians”. You will visit the Peles Castle - former summer residence of Carol the 1st - king of Romania. Continue to Slanic, to visit the famous salt mine, known as one of the biggest salt mines in Europe. Unique in the country, but also in Europe, the salt mine is formed out of 14 rooms, trapezium shaped, with an opening of 32 meters at the basis, 10 meters at the ceiling and 45 meters height. Then drive back to Bucharest and drop you at the airport or why not extend your stay in Bucharest |
