Biking in Transylvania

Day 1: airport – Brasov
Pick-up from the airport and transfer to your hotel in Brasov, fairytale town founded in the 12th century by the Saxon settlers. This afternoon your guide invites you to a warm-up ride round the old fortified walls of the medieval Brasov Citadel. During your ride you can admire the Blacksmiths Bastion built in 1521, Ecaterina's Gate, the Weaver's Bastion , the Ropemaker's Bastion and the Draper's Bastion. In the evening, take a walk through the city center and reward yourself with a dinner at Casa Hirscher Restaurant, one of the most popular restaurants in Brasov. Accommodation at Casa Wagner 3* hotel, located in Piata Sfatului , a grade A listed building dating back to 1477, formerly a German Bank. (D)
 
Day 2: Brasov - Sighisoara
This morning you will drive to Cincu, a village built by the Transylvanian Saxons. Today you will wind through old Saxon villages and serve lunch at a local farmhouse in the Dealu Frumos village. After lunch, you will be invited to visit the Evangelic Church in Dealu Frumos and attend a lecture about the preservation of the fortified churches in Transylvania. You will be picked up by bus from Agnita and transferred to Sighisoara, the best-preserved medieval fortified town in Romania and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Accommodation at Fronius Residence 5*, built in 1676 by the Fronius family, an old Transylvanian Saxon family. (B, L)
Day 3: biking near Sighisoara
Today your tour will take you to Malancrav, a small Transylvanian village with a long history. Visit the recently restored Apafi Manor, where you will also have lunch. This remarkable building situated in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, was once owned by the princely Hungarian Apafi family. It is set above the village beside a historic church with rare 14th century frescoes and altarpiece. In the afternoon you will reach Biertan village where you can visit the Fortified Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site and enjoy hearing some old Saxon stories with the elderly members of the community. In the evening return to Sighisoara. (B, L) 
Day 4: Sighisoara – Sibiu
Today you will leave Sighisoara behind. Enjoy a day of gentle riding and a lunch with wine tasting at the Cetatea de Balta Castle, now owned by Jidvei winery. The castle was attested in 1202. The present castle was built in 1580 and rebuilt in 1624 by count Betlen following the design of the French castle Chambord. In the afternoon you will check-in at Levoslav House 4*, located in the Great Market Square in Sibiu. The house was built in 1840 and fully restored in 2008. For 40 years this house has been the residence of the composer and conductor Jan Levoslav Bella. (B, L) 
Day 5: biking near Sibiu
Cycle the beautiful surroundings of Sibiu. Today your tour will take you to Calnic where you will serve lunch and visit the UNESCO listed fortified Church founded by Cistercian monks in the 13th century. In the afternoon you will relax and enjoy a salty bath in Ocna Sibiului. Your guide will invite you to a farewell dinner at Hermania Restaurant. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Sibiu – airport
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. (B)

Sighisoara - Fronius Residence *****
In the middle of Sighisoara Citadel, right at the foot of the Hill, where the 175 steps of the Covered Stair ends, the Fronius Residence is one of the few medieval buildings that have resisted a fire that devastated most of the town in 1676.
All of the hotel's 7 rooms, each with a different style, as regards the dimensions and decorations are equipped with mini-bar, safety box, AC, wireless internet. The doors' lockers are the old original ones. The furniture is old, being in tune with the atmosphere of the house, being purchased piece by piece from different areas of Transylvania. Being located in the historical center of Sibiu, next to the Large Square and the Bruckenthal Museum, the building in which Levoslav House is situated was initially built in 1840 and fully restored in 2008 and for 40 years has been the residence of the composer and conductor Jan Levoslav Bella. The interior is decorated with original works of art with musical subject and it benefits from a sophisticated harmony in which there can be found not only the refinement of the XIXth century but also the contemporary tendencies. The hotel's 11 rooms are all equipped with safety boxes, mini-bar, AC, Cable TV and wireless Internet.
